World War Due to Syria?

If there is one thing that the civil war in Syria has shown the world is that when the bosses have a disagreement, it is the workers who do the dying. For a quick rundown of who is fighting whom in Syria, click on this link.

Hundreds of thousands of workers in Syria have been murdered by the bosses’ bombs, due to their rotten ideology, their sectarian divisions manufactured by their borders, and the millions of bullets that they have made billions in selling. PLP has pointed out that this civil war in Syria has been a proxy war between the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and other Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) nations in order to loosen Russia’s natural gas grip over Europe, control the natural gas mega field in the Eastern Mediterranean, and block Iran’s influence in the area. The millions of refugees created by this imperialist adventure are now being used as a political lever by Turkey as Erdogan does his best Gollum impersonation over his precious neo-Ottoman empire expansion into Syria using hoards and hoards of Islamist, mostly Al Qaeda aligned, rebel groups. He is tired of his nation being the ottoman of Europe.

Over 60% of Europe’s natural gas market is dominated by Russia, and the US is desperate to break this stranglehold that keeps them from absolute economic sanctions against Russia. This civil war is a classic example of category of dialectical imperialism known as appearance and essence. It appears to be, and is manipulated to look like by the bosses’ media, a civil war between a tin pot dictator and rebels trying to overthrow him, but it is really an imperialist proxy war between different major nations that is now spinning out of control.

Basically, the US supported Kurdish and Arab Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are now getting Russian Close Air Support (CAS) to fight the CIA vetted and armed moderate opposition that are also tactically aligned with both Al Qaeda and Turkey after the Assad Regime seized territory in northern Syria to cut off the supply lines that the CIA and Turkey were using to pump weapons and jihadis into the conflict. Turkey played a dangerous game and is now in the process of losing it. The worst moment in the history of France was when Germany formed out of the Germanic tribes that Europe had enjoyed using mercenaries in their militaries since the Roman Empire. When Germany rose, it was an existential threat to the social order where England and France’s military might vied to be the preeminent power in Northern Europe.

As Germany rose, it challenged the already divided world and its ambitions led to the conflagration that was supposed to be the Great War to end all wars, but is now just reduced to World War I. Turkey is now staring down that historical moment. An autonomous Kurdish zone, colloquially known as “Rojava”, has formed just south of Turkey’s border as the leftist People’s Protection Units (YPG), the group that is the heart of the SDF, whipped the snot out of the Daesh (Islamic State, ISIS, ISIL) fascists who were hoping to massacre them. Though there are progressive aspects of the YPG that PLP does support such as fighting against patriarchy, they are not Communist and will not be able to sustain a revolution that will transform social relationships through the transformation of the economic relationships. The YPG illustrates the contradiction that unless there is a proper political line fighting directly for Communism, they will eventually end up back in the pit of capitalist ideology and relationships. Just as the PLP did not unreservedly support the brave workers who fought imperialism in Vietnam, we will not uncritically support the YPG and their Rojava project. We will point out that their struggle is just as doomed to the quagmire of capitalism as Vietnam’s left-led struggle National Liberation.

rojava.jpg

As Kurdish Rojava rises to their southern border, Turkey sees them as more of a threat than the Daesh’s genocidal death cult and has actually embedded their special forces in with the Jihadi groups now infiltrating into Northern Syria as they are just wantonly firing artillery into the Kurdish controlled areas as the Kurds are fighting the “moderate” CIA vetted rebels that have no problem wiping out whole villages of Shia and Al Awari that don’t worship their deity the way that they want to in the name of their Sunni sectarianism.

We are at a historical moment now where the imperialists can either take their losses and leave Syria to a Russian victory – a Russian victory that is going to allow them to take on the mantle of being the army that has defeated Jihadi forces in the Middle East, that has helped to shove a massive thorn into the side of Turkey, and that will allow for them to keep an expanding military presence in an area of the world that is strategically vital to the US’s empire. Turkey and SA have threatened to invade Syria to ostensibly fight Daesh, but this excuse will be a military excursion in order to keep Rojava from uniting across the entirety of Turkey’s border. The US has been arming and funding the YPG in their fight against the Daesh death cult, now Russia is providing CAS, and the regime’s forces are not engaging them as they have worked out some type of de facto non-aggression pact.

When the “Arab Spring” happened, PLP pointed out that none of the groups fighting against their own tin pot dictators had the correct political line of fighting directly for communism and that the struggle would be hijacked. Well, once again we were right as the struggle in Syria led to the rebels making tactical alliances with Islamicists that have now rendered any secular struggle within the Western-backed rebels impotent. Since the rebellion in Syria did not have the correct goals at the outset, it’s now fully apparent that they have betrayed the working class in Syria and now Turkey is trying to stave off the endgame of them being crushed. They have been complaining about being abandoned by their Western backers like the US, but they have also aligned themselves with groups like Jabhat al Nusra, al Qaeda in Syria.

The Western backed rebels aren’t the first group of rebels trying to overthrow a tyrant that became tyrants as they made opportunist errors based on their incorrect political line. They made a deal with the devil, and now they are paying the price as they have basically not only lost the rebellion, but, even more importantly for a rebellion, they have lost the support of the people. Masses of workers are now meeting their former tyrant’s forces that are aligned with that despot Putin in Russia as well as the oppressive fascists in Iran with massive celebrations in the street. They are full of joy at being liberated from the liberators by their former exploiters!

PLP will continue to maintain a principled left position and will not be opportunist. We recognize the historical moment that is now occurring within Syria. We see the balance of forces moving in the direction opposed to the dominant US Empire and allies. We know that the US needs to create a Sunni state to block Iran’s influence and to eject Russia’s growing military might out of the area.

Turkey wants to expand, and as it expands, since it is a member of NATO, US power is also expanded. The issue now occurring is that Turkey has now overplayed its hand. It is now firing artillery into SDF controlled Syria, has tens of thousands of troops along the Syrian border ready to invade, and does not want the US armed and backed SDF to wipe out the US armed and backed rebels and Daesh that now control its southern border. The US is caught as two of the sides that they have supported in Syria are now at war, so they may be able to pull out some kind of diplomatic victory, but Turkey has gone all in on toppling Assad’s regime. If Turkey is unable to topple Assad, that’s bad, but if they not only don’t topple Assad, but are then stuck with a Kurdish autonomous zone along their southern border while they continue to fight a war with the secessionist Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in their south then it can be easy to foresee a time when Syria facilitates the Kurds in their armed struggle against Turkey.  This would be a catastrophe for Turkey and entail a major rollback of NATO, and by association, US power in the geostrategic region.

Turkey is now trying to get the US to say that the YPG is a terrorist organization just like the PKK is. It would not have been prudent, to say the least, if the US had admitted to arming, funding, and providing CAS to a terrorist organization, so they have officially said that the YPG are not a terrorist organization – much to the chagrin of their NATO ally. Turkey considers the revisionist YPG to be more of a danger than Daesh’s genocidal death cult!

It is historical moments like this where seemingly small wars can turn into massive world wars as imperialist rivals have the choice of either throwing in their hands and letting their rivals take all of the chips or doubling down and entering the fray themselves. Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, and, most importantly, Russia have said that if Turkey or SA were to invade it would be a violation of Syria’s sovereignty and they would be going home in body bags. This is not an empty threat. Turkey shot down a Russian plane that was bombing its Islamist proxy forces in northern Syria, and Russia has not forgotten. It will, in all probability, attack any columns of troops entering into Syria. Turkey may not be able to invoke the NATO defensive pact since it would be an offensive operation. SA would use an army made up of many of its allies including Pakistan and Indonesia, who, ironically, have both said that they don’t want to invade, but may be obligated to due to signed defense pacts. If Russia were to vaporize the Turkish troops that invaded, this could be quite the spark.

The bosses are seeing the weakness the US has right now, a weakness where they don’t have the mass army that they need to confront their current world rivals, don’t have the patriotism necessary to induce their army to fight, and, most importantly, don’t have their own ruling class unity won to the necessary economic sacrifices necessary for such a massive war.

Aspirant warmongers like Bernie Sanders would prove to be quite the boon to the US ruling class as he already is saying that he wants the rich to pay more taxes. He or Hillary would be just what the dominant liberal wing of the US ruling class needs to convince its working class to wage a really big war. So, whichever Repubulocrat or Demopublican, Trump or Sanders, that wins the US presidential election will have to carry out the needs of a US empire in decline. PLP knows that imperialist bloodbaths have lead to Communist revolution in the past and knows that, as we continue to build in over 25 countries on 5 continents, we have a world to win and nothing to lose but our chains. The bosses will attempt to destroy this world, but workers built it, run it, and can build it again even better. We know that this capitalist system will not last forever. The bosses can keep conspiring again and again, but only a Communist revolution led by PLP can end these wars once and for all.

Racist KKKops Get Away With It

A new year looms, but it’s still the same old bullshit when it comes to capitalism. Yet another innocent young member of the working class, 12 years old this time, will not receive justice under this racist system. What was Tamir Rice’s crime? Playing on a playground? Well, the real crime is that capitalism is allowed to exist.

The death of 12 year old Tamir Rice at the hands of the racist police is a crime that capitalism will let go unpunished. The Democrat Tim McGinty, the prosecutor, did a better job defending the police than most defense attorneys. It was clearly understood that McGinty “made no attempt to mask his belief that rookie officer Timothy Loehmann and his partner Frank Garmback committed no crimes” when Rice was killed in a playground.

Nothing illustrates the need for Communist Revolution greater than the impunity that racist police gun down Black members of the working class. Now the all to familiar calls for calm are going out from the usual misleader sorts, but why should there be calm. There should be no peace until the terrible criminals who stole a life be given their due, yet the ruling class puppets push passivity on the working class. The police protect and serve the racist system, and so, when they murder us, they are just doing their job.

This holiday season, fueled by corporations and quasi religious mysticism, be mindful of the fact that there are many parents who won’t see their children due to the bullets of the racist police, the bombs of the imperialists, and the proxy wars fought to preserve geo-strategic resources. Let’s take the green and religion out of the holidays and leave only the red: the redder the better. We need to build a Communist revolution in order to sweep aside this racist, sexist, system of exploitation. No more racist police murders, no more racist cops, and no more capitalism! tamir-rice-protest-471x652

Turkey Plays a Dangerous Game

Russia has sent in military hardware to Syria to consolidate its presence in the Levant. The “Carter Doctrine, the imperialist stance codified by former President Jimmy Carter in 1979: that any threat to U.S. oil interests in the Middle East would be met with a military response. Followed by every U.S. president since, this policy has cost millions of working class lives.”  The Carter Doctrine means that any threat to the US’s hold over Middle East (ME) oil is a threat to the US itself. Russia is doubling down on their base in Tartus and expanding into at least one bigger air base in Latakia. The US asked Greece to not allow Russia to use its air space to supply its forces. Russia was borrowing the same excuse of humanitarian imperialism that the US uses of fighting terror, but Greece had no problem defying the US and letting Russia use its airspace.

The simple reason why Greece was able to defy the US comes down to Russia’s TurkStream pipeline. This pipeline provides the potential of vast profit to the Greek ruling class that has been under the iron heel of the US dominated Troika(the EU, IMF, and ECB). As these wars in the Levant and the rest of the ME, like Yemen, continue to escalate, they are indicative of a more and more desperate class of international imperialists that has less and less room to maneuver and are now actively participating in the wars that they were at first fighting by proxy. This is a step towards all out inter-imperialist world war.

The TurkStream pipeline will help to alleviate the reliance on Ukraine as an oil transit route. This is a direct slap in the face of the US and its Nazi servants that overthrew the democratically elected Russian aligned government in the name of democracy. “The outbreak of the Ukraine crisis in November 2013 marked the beginning of the end for the South Stream project. Western countries responded to Russia’s annexation of Crimea in early 2014 with a series of sanctions that targeted a number of Russian officials. The subsequent crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 after being shot down over Ukraine in July 2014 led to the sanctions’ expansion, this time against the Russian banks that were financing South Stream.” The members of the working class that were killed in the plane crash became an excuse for the US led West to push its political agenda against Russia. Regardless of who was responsible for the crash, a Ukrainian fighter jet or Separatist missile, the imperialist agenda was all that mattered to the ruling capitalist class.

The danger with Turkey moving closer to Russia is that it “would be able to remove itself from reliance on Ukraine-transited gas”. Turkey is playing a dangerous game because this means that Turkey would not have to rely on US dominated sectors for its natural gas needs. This illustrates a contradiction within the contradiction, since Turkey is a NATO member, it is ostensibly an ally of the US, but Turkey has its own expansionist designs in the Levant as it is hearing echoes of its Ottoman past. So, though in the long term it may, paralleling history, rival Russia for control of the Levant, it can easily pad its coffers now at the expense of being tied to the US leash of power and control. Maximum profits today can mean much more than loyalty and will be able to provide Turkey with the financing necessary for it to carry out its expansionist designs in the Levant through a continuance of financing to the death cult Islamists that it outright supports, the useful enemies of ISIS it allegedly covertly supports, and the vast amount of economic resources that its army needs in order to secure its outright expansionism.

The imperialist proxy war in Ukraine is now in an apparent ceasefire due to the fact that Russia is doing its best to isolate Ukraine from the world’s pipeline chess board. The US and its EU allies were hoping to have the Nabucco pipeline flow natural gas through Turkey, but that project is on hold. “In fact, Russia has the opportunity to export its gas via TAP from the Turkish Stream toward Europe, without Gazprom’s presence in the TAP Consortium and without breaching the TEP rules.” These pipeline wars in the Levant, Syria and Iraq, have caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of workers, displaced over 10 million workers, and have caused the migration of millions more workers looking for shelter and safety after imperialist financed jihadists and mercenary armies have destroyed their homes.

Another intensification of the inter-imperialist rivalry is between Russia and Israel since Russia is doubling down on the coast of the Eastern Mediterranean it now has access to all of the natural gas that is there. This natural gas is a valuable asset to sell to the EU. Israel is worried since it can no longer bomb Hezbollah at will due to the anti-aircraft missiles which have already shot down at least one Israeli fighter and the interceptor aircraft that Russia has given to Syria.  Israel won’t be able to bomb Syria’s forces or Hezbollah at will if it will begin having its planes continually shot down by AA missiles and intercepter jet fighters.   Israel is now going to be meeting with Russia to discuss what is going to be done about Hezbollah, a valuable Assad ally.

Regardless of how things intensify, it will be the working class that will continue to suffer as millions of refugees continue to lose their homes due to imperialist proxy wars to dominate geostrategic resources. Capitalism needs to be smashed by Communist revolution, and only the Progressive Labor Party can lead this revolution. Our line, our analysis, our international vision of a world based on meeting the needs of the whole of humanity regardless of race or gender is the shining beacon of hope in this run up to open imperialist war. Just as at the dawn of the last world war, two roads are open to humanity, the road of barbarism or the road of Communism. The capitalists want to march us to their parasitical barbarism again and again, but PLP knows that we will be able to organize a Communist revolution to flush capitalism down the toilet of history.

Syriza and Syria Show The Working Class Needs the PLP

Well, it didn’t take long for Syriza to betray the working class now did it? We in the PLP said from the beginning that Syriza would betray the working class.  It didn’t take too long for us to be proved correct yet again.  We have consistently said that in order to defend the working class, reform needs to take a backseat to revolution. Since Syriza did not ever point out that the reason that austerity is destroying the standard of living in Greece and many other places is due to capitalism nor did they say that they were going to fight for communism. Basically, the dictates of capital are destroying the reforms that the working class in Greece won after many long struggles. The needs of the working class are now being disintegrated by the need for the big money capitalists of the Troika to increase their profit margins and fatten their wallets.

Tsipras has decided to quit Syriza in order to force an election and not have to be beholden to the promises that he made in order to get elected the first time. The KKE (Greek “Communist” Party) dropped revolution as a force for change long ago. It pushes the ballot box as a source of change. We say “Don’t Vote – revolt!” Elections are a method for the ruling class to maintain their state power and keep the working class subjected to capitalism. The working class needs to dump all of the bosses’ politicians and pick up the red flag of PLP. There is no answer for the working class’ problems in any of the charlatans capitalism parades as answers for the problems it creates.

The Syrian Civil War (SCW) has taken an interesting turn as it now looks like the SAA (Syrian Arab Army) is now about to take Zabadani, have started a massive offensive on the Latakia plains, and has halted ISIL’s attack. In response to the success of the SAA, Israel has begun to bomb regime forces. Israel was caught patching up and sending Jihadi fighters and now has begun to bomb those who it identifies as its real enemies.

PLP has consistently pointed out that the SCW has been a proxy war being fought for by The US/Saudi/UK imperialist bloc against the Russia/China/Iran imperialist bloc. The recent counter attack and victories of the Butcher Assad’s forces against the foreign backed fascists has been causing the Western imperialists to consider negotiating. Regardless of what the imperialists decide, it will still be the working class in Syria and the greater Levant who will continue to suffer due to the non-stop pipeline wars. Absurdities such as the moderate rebels in The Islamic Front saying they’ll allow democracy as long as it’s under Sharia or the US funded, armed and trained Division 30 saying that fighters in Al Qaeda were its brothers are rife throughout this prelude to World War III taking place in Syria.  One would think that the US would have learned about using Jihadist fascists as its storm troopers, but its recent experience in Afghanistan doesn’t mean that it has to learn its lesson for Syria.

Revisionist groups, the so-called “left”, lacking scruples, principles, and dialectical materialism, have been stumbling all over themselves trying to figure out who to support in the SCW. The Guardian supported Jabhat al Nusrah. PLP has continued to point out that all of the factions are not going to emancipate the working class in the Levant – including the new darlings of the revisionists, the Kurdish People’s Defense Forces (YPG).  Though it is commendable that they have been able to fight the Islamic State and that they have men and women fighting alongside each other, they are not a revolutionary force.  The YPG and, by political association, the PKK, though they have imbibed Anarchism and synthesized some populist socialism into their lines, are not ever going to be able to organize a communist society. They do not have a communist line, nor are they fighting for a communist world. Though they have stopped paying lip service to an independent Kurdish state, they still maintain many aspects of the nationalism that helped doom the old communist movement.

The answer to the inter-imperialist proxy struggle of fascist against fascist in Syria and the farce of voting in Greece is to build the PLP. Only we can lead the working class out of these dark ages of human history. This dark night will have its red dawn of communist revolution. The working class will rise again.

The Whole Damn System Is Guilty!!!!!!

Michael Brown laying dead on the road after being murdered by the racist pig Darren Wilson isn’t enough. The lies that the media constantly push aren’t enough. The KKKop was doing his job and his job is to kill Black Workers for capitalism. The Ferguson grand jury decided that the kkkop wasn’t guilty. How dare the capitalist misleaders beg for peace after they let a murderer go. No justice no peace! No racist Police!

In the USA, the center of world reaction, it is not a crime for a pig to kill a young Black man. A young child was killed two days ago for holding a toy gun. A young man was killed the day before that for walking in his own stairwell. Mike Brown was murdered with his hands up.

A Communist Revolution is needed to drive away all of this racism, to make these racist kkkops get the justice they deserve at the hands of the working class, and to ensure that the ideology of racism dies with the profit system. The whole damn system is guilty. They will not charge a kkkop for doing their job. We didn’t get it, so it’s time to shut it down!

Protesters Battle the KKKops In Ferguson

The Progressive Labor Party salutes the working class in Ferguson who engaged in armed struggle with the police. The racist ruling class tried to fool the primarily Black working class by putting a Black police officer in charge, but the appearance did not change the essence of racism at the heart of capitalism. As more and more evidence comes out, it appears much clearer that Michael Brown was shot execution style while holding his hands aloft. It appears more and more likely that the KKKops made up a story and tried to justify their murder of a young member of the working class.

Molotov cocktails were used against the police who are trying to impose a curfew on the working class. The fascist ruling class only allows free speech when it’s hate speech or pushes one of their rotten ideologies. When it’s angry Black workers demanding an end to the fascist conditions they’ve been exploited under for centuries, the ruling class takes off its kid gloves and unleashes the kind of hell they’re used to unleashing in the rest of the world. The kind of brutality they are able to unleash on any part of the working class as part of their imperialistic drive allows them to further brutalize their home ruling class.

The national guard called to the border in Texas against undocumented mostly children fleeing the conditions US capitalism created in South and Central America is also the national guard called into Missouri against the Black workers who have had enough. Basta Ya! Enough is enough in any language. It is about time the working class fought back against the violence of the state with armed struggle. As many a protester shouted, “they’ve got guns and we’ve got guns.” The ruling class was terrified because many young men were willing to die that night fighting against the racist injustice of capitalism.

Regardless of whether or not this working class violence against the state brings the racist police officer Wilson to some kind of discipline or reprimand, it won’t change the racist nature of the capitalist system. It will be only a matter of time before the KKKops kill another young black working class teenager. PLP wants to eradicate racism, and in order to do so, we must eradicate capitalism. The police, the courts, and the KKK are all a part of capitalism, and reforming it by indicting and disciplining one police officer, though it is a minor victory, will not fundamentally change the nature of the capitalist system.

The ruling class slipped their fascist hand in Missouri. They showed us workers what we can expect when we even peacefully use our first amendment guaranteed right to peacefully assemble — in a scene right out of Falluja, heavily armed KKKops masquerading as combat troops attacked and restored the order of capitalism. This is a clear reminder that the only rights the working class have under capitalism is what we are able to force the ruling class to give us. This is why we need state power. The working class needs to organize the PLP in Missouri so these gains and armed struggle are not lost. How great would it be if every time a racist pig gunned down a worker, an uprising occurred that none of the bosses’ stooges, not Sharpton nor pastors, could pacify. Justice will be served when the KKKop that killed that young man is turned over to the working class. By building PLP, and eventually a Communist revolution to put the working class into state power, justice will finally be served because there will no longer be capitalists protecting their murderous thugs in blue.

The Imperialist Dogfight Over Ukraine Has Nothing For The Working Class

The US has been the center of world reaction since it first took its baby steps into imperialism after it’s campaign of genocide against the Native Americans. The PLP is the center of world revolution as it rebuilds the forces of the working class. The US reversed or co-opted revolutions all over South America, Asia, and Pacifica, places where friends of PLP are now rebuilding a revolutionary movement to smash capitalism once and for all. Gunboat diplomacy, tyranny, and outright support for thugs and bandits who would protect their financial interests are the true history of the center of world reaction. Proving their reactionary streak is alive and well, not being satisfied with arming Jihadist sexists hell bent on genocide in Syria, now the US is supporting Nazis who toppled a UN monitored democratically elected president. Those hypocrites don’t even follow their own ideology.

The workers have nothing to gain from either set of bosses. They will get their pensions attacked and their subsidies slashed by the EU as part of an austerity program. Just as the Troika, the European Commission (EC), The European Central Bank (ECB), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), destroyed the lives of workers in Greece, Spain, and ravages them in Italy and Portugal, will now rip the worker’s pensions and fuel subsidies away from them as the “price of freedom”. The Orwellian conceit of “freedom is slavery”, though originally intended to attack the USSR, is clearly being illustrated in Ukraine. Russia’s fascists will no doubt take their pound of flesh from the workers to pay for their imperialist expansion, and are no alternative to the fascists in Ukraine. The US has their fascists in Ukraine locked, cocked, and ready to rock the working class out of all of their hard earned gains.

Obama is the primary puppet that pushes the reaction the US is constantly creating. It was not reactionary enough to deport millions, terror bomb children by drones, or push the racist attack on public education in the form of Race To The Top, but the first Black president has now helped to put Nazis back into power in the Ukraine. Once again, PLP’s analysis on race is proven to be correct as racist policies are advanced regardless of the race of the person advancing them. His leadership is best illustrated in how he appears to be playing checkers while Russia is playing a chess-like game of Chicken and Russian roulette.

The militaristic rhetoric that the US is pushing is a reaction to the coolheaded way the fascists in Russia are running the table in the Ukraine. Russia is challenging the US Empire and exposing their weakness. The US is moving a missile cruiser and other warships into the Black Sea now. Russia is playing the long game since they don’t have to invade the Eastern Ukraine now, though they have over 40,000 soldiers massed on the border. They know the EU and US austerity is going to cause unrest and a backlash. They can either play to win the elections or they can invade to protect Russian citizens from the Nazi-led hoards. They also have other options that will develop as the conflict unfolds.

This backlash will force the Ukraine to use their armed apparatus, the military and soldiers, as well as the Nazi paramilitary to crush the working class. So, the Ukrainian Sabre rattling rhetoric against Russia will create a military that can be used against the working class in order to ensure that the Troika gets its money. The workers have no dog in this imperialist fight, because the EU has little to offer Ukraine besides Greece style austerity cuts that would begin with an end to fuel subsidies. Those workers who sincerely believed in the lies of prosperity that fell from the bosses’ mouths are getting nothing from either the Fascists in Russia or the fascists in the EU/US/IMF alliance. There are no lesser evil bosses and there is no lesser evil; the working class can only rely upon itself organized by The PLP as the concrete vision for a society that meets our needs.

The Eastern Ukraine is where its industrial production is located along with a majority Russian-speaking population. Russia is wielding the ideological weapon of nationalism to seize control of the minds of the workers that live there as well as the factories located in a geostrategically important location.

Germany is caught in a bind as it is the de facto head of the EU and is also Russia’s largest energy trading partner. The EU is unwilling to attack Russia to the extent the US needs (see C/D). This inter-imperialist rivalry is speeding towards WWIII and only a Communist Revolution can stop it. Communists once took power in this part of the world, and, under PL’s leadership, can do so again, but this time really build a society that meets the worker’s needs. We won’t build Socialism, which is just another form of state capitalism, but an actual Communist society. The abolition of profit and the ideologies of sexism, racism, and nationalism that nurture it will end imperialist dogfights that create the lose lose conditions of Ukraine. The ending of capitalism will end imperialism.

FIFA Spells death for workers in Qatar

Workers are being callously murdered in the name of profit and soccer in Qatar. More than 500 workers from India have been murdered over the past 14 months, with over 20 in the past month of January alone, in the name of profit. It is not enough that Qatar has been running guns and mercenaries to Syria and has contributed to tens of thousands of deaths there in the name of US sponsored imperialist regime change, but they are also ripping profit from impoverished workers from India and Nepal.

Working in squalid conditions with little water in a desert heat for over 12 hours a day is the culprit.

Qatar’s ministry of labour and social affairs told the Guardian: “With specific regard to these new figures, we were aware that local media had previously reported some of these headline numbers, and we are clarifying them. … Qataris … welcome guest workers to our country to perform valuable jobs. We are working to understand the causes of these deaths – as these statistics could include a range of circumstances including natural causes, and road safety incidents, as well as a smaller number of workplace incidents.”

These workers are brutally exploited and the ministry is saying that “a smaller number of workplace incidents” has killed hundreds and injured how many unknown thousands more?!? If we include the hundreds of dead workers from Nepal and then wonder how many of the other 1.2 million workers are unhealthy, near death, indebted, desperate and unable to leave due to the capitalist’s and their underlings’ “kafala system” of domination that these workers are exploited under. The state apparatus has formalized the usually informal structures of control that workers are daily exploited under. These kafalas mirror the feudal structures of control and tie the workers to their bosses. The US would love to copy this system as part of their guest worker program.

The spreading of PLP’s revolutionary Communism among the guest workers in Qatar would help to permanently end the slaughter the workers are now brutalized with, but only a Communist revolution can ultimately end these for profit death camps in the interest of capitalism’s entertainment industry.  There are revisionist groups fighting in India and Nepal who claim to be Communist. They may also be organizing in the work camps, but they won’t bring Communism. Only the Progressive Labor Party can.

The National Question Has Already Been Answered

Revisionists, particularly Maoists, love to sound sophisticated with the highfalutin’ language that they cloak their rotten ideas in. They say, “The National Question” when they discuss the reactionary ideology of nationalism. There is no national question. It is obsolete. It has already been answered. It is the definition of absurd and insanity to keep asking a question when an answer already exists or to keep doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different outcome. The current sectarian civil war raging in Syria is a perfect illustration of the obsolescence of the role of nationalism. Because of their fixation on nationalism, Maoists and their ilk have no theoretical method of analysis that will give them an answer to what is going on in Syria or what is to be done. Only PLP’s dialectically based theoretical framework of inter-imperislist rivalry can illustrate the balance of forces that do not have the working class’ interests at all.

The obsolete question these traitors to the Red Flag constantly phrase is, in general, “what is the role of nationalism in the revolutionary movement?” It should be better phrased, “what is the role of reactionary rotten divisive ideology that strengthens capitalism while dividing the working class and inducing them to fight and die for our master’s profits in the struggle for an egalitarian society?” There is no role for nationalism in the Communist struggle for working class liberation. None. All borders must be smashed. Workers must not be led to fight to create artificial borders that divide them. Racism is the filthy underbelly of nationalism. Nationalism will never lead to anything other than a new capitalist state apparatus brutalizing the proletariat — whether it is a Red bourgeoisie like China or Vietnam or brutal dictatorships or bourgeois liberalism. National liberation is future economic, political, and exploitative enslavement by a new set of parasitical bosses who may look, pray, speak or whatever like the local working class, but with clearly different economic interests. Nationalism clearly illustrates two dialectical categories: appearance vs. essence and form and content.

Appearance and Essence

The protests in the Ukraine clearly illustrate several dialectical categories. The most apparent category illustrated is appearance vs. essence. The primary contradiction that has steered these protests is the sharpening inter-imperislist rivalry. Though they have protestors battling cops and taking over buildings, the protestors represent one imperialist camp, and the state represents another, US and Russian imperialism respectively. How can protestors who tore down a stature of Lenin be considered any revolutionary force?  Which is the progressive nationalism? Should we respect a sovereign Ukraine? How absurd is it for people who mouth that they support Communism to support one imperialist camp or another?

PLP doesn’t support the imperialist centered politics of the Ukrainian protests at all. We do not support fascists, instead we smash them when we get the chance.  We do like the fact that angry workers are battling the police, yet we also know that there is a lot of choreography going on in order to manipulate us into seeing a facade of class struggle.

This is also illustrated in Syria. Assad’s regime is a repressive brutal weapon wielded in the interests of the wealthy Syrians and the Russian imperialists. Many on the left herald him. It is absurd to see such a butcher as any kind of pro-working class force. Opposed to him are a gaggle of rotten opportunists and a few secular nationalist militias. The Islamist fascists are all enemies of the working class too, whether they are moderate Islamists or radical Jihadists. They wield the rotten weapons of religious ideology, racism, and nationalism in the interests of one set of bosses or another — rich non-royal Saudis who bankroll Al-Qaida, rich royal Saudi Wahhabis who bankroll Islamist mercenaries, the imperialists in “socialist” led France and the liberal led US, or the Kurds. Not a single one of these myriad forces are aligned in the interest of the working class and none are fighting for Communist revolution.

Form and Content

There are many revisionists who hold up the Kurds as a potential revolutionary force. This is also illogical and wrong. The form of the Kurdish struggle is also shaped by the nations that the Kurds are in — Iraqi Kurds, Syrian Kurds, and those in Turkey. The Soviet Union helped to form, organize, and arm the PKK and it was one of the last Marxist guerilla parties. The political content of their struggle was saturated with the imperialist old line of the Soviet Union that opportunistically took advantage of the old Communist Movement’s fixation on the national struggle.

The Kurds are being coopted by Assad in one area where they have set up an autonomous zone and seized an oil well. They are now actively looking for international partners to develop and sell the oil to. These partners are going to be capitalists that support one imperialist camp or another. They will be parasites that will enrich one minute section of Kurds while the Kurdish working class will be exploited. How would a sovereign Kurdistan be any better for the working class there? Either way, whether the form be a nation or an organization actively engaged in the armed struggle for national liberation, the political content will not allow for the economic emancipation of the working class. The workers in a future Kurdistan can only be truly liberated by Communist revolution. Liberating the nation from the domination of an external force only further indemnifies the workers to a new set of bosses and a new form of exploitation.

There is no longer a national question any more than a law of gravity question, a Pluto question, or a creationism question. Why aren’t the revisionists asking an earth is flat question? The theory of relativity, modern astronomy, and a basic scientific approach negated those anti-scientific questions. The science of Dialectical Materialism applied by PLP to the old movement clearly illustrates the absurdity of maintaining a “national question” when there’s already an answer. The answer is that all Communists must struggle against the rotten ideologies of nationalism, racism, and sexism and smash all of the borders that currently exist. We must fight to build the PLP so that we can end the hell of capitalism once and for all, not just get new capitalists that look like us.

Basta Ya! Armed struggle comes to Michoacán!

The PLP applauds the angry workers in Michoacán that have had enough of the Cartel’s violence and picked up guns and fought back. In an inspiring example of working class rage, many members of the working class not only picked up the gun, not only attacked the criminal cartel, but also attacked the police and federal agents. The armed struggle is the intensification of the conflict between the exploited and the exploiter. There is another contradiction.  This contradiction illustrates appearance vs. essence. It appears that this vigilante uprising against the cartels is spontaneous and fully rooted within the working class, but in essence, there may be another cartel arming and directing this movement as well. There may also be opportunist elements within the Ruling class in Mexico helping them as well.   They are attacking a symptom of capitalism, and not the cancer of capitalism. Either way, the fact that many workers have turned to the armed struggle, challenged the cartel that was brutally dispossessing them, and also challenged the capitalist state apparatus is a very positive development.

A major question is, where did these vigilantes get their guns? Their narrative is that they, paralleled Mao’s tenets of guerrilla warfare. A small group began with a few hunting rifles and shotguns, they then raided the police stations and some of the cartel’s arms caches. If this is the actual way that they acquired their guns, it is even easier to see a method of how PLP will be able to arm ourselves, develop a Red Army, and seize state power. Though our primary way is by organizing directly in the bosses military. The vigilante armed workers now have automatic weapons and armored vehicles. Needless to say, much of the ruling classes are worried about lots and lots of armed workers taking power into their own hands and acting as an example to workers all over the world — from Cambodia, to Bangladesh, to France, to The United States — armed struggle against capitalism!

PLP also recognizes that politics are primary. Though the armed workers have had enough, Basta Ya! (enough is enough), they are not fighting to seize the means of production, institute the dictatorship of the proletariat, or transform society through Communist revolution. We must recognize that there is a contradiction occurring there between the positive aspects of elements of the working class arming and organizing themselves against a ruthless oppressor and the fact that without negating the systemic structures of capitalism, they are just either putting a new boss in charge or preserving the social order that allows the ruling class in Mexico to rule. In fact, the cartel they are deposing actually started as an armed reaction against exploitation! We applaud the armed struggle, but we are critical of the lack of a political thrust apart from a populist reaction to the terrible exploitation and brutal violence that the cartels enact upon them. The armed workers also recognize that the Mexican police and agents, despite the millions that they receive in aid from the US, are ineffectual in stopping the cartels.

The police, the agents, the bourgeoisie, the banking system, the DEA, and a whole line of federal agents all make some money off of the very lucrative drug trade. The poisoning of the working class is big money that flows into a lot of pockets. A scandal is just now breaking of how the US directly helped the Sinaloa Cartel and there is another scandal, Fast and Furious, where the US directly supplied weapons to the cartels themselves. PLP recognizes that the cartels are part of the exploitative apparatus of capitalism because they divide the working class, brutalize the working class, and make vast profits for the bosses either indirectly through money laundering or directly through kickbacks, bribes, or outright gun sales that echo the British gun running in Africa during slavery.

The PLP, both in Mexico and around the world, will continue to struggle to bring Communist politics to the armed struggle taking place. This group of vigilantes, though it may dismay some elements of the ruling class in Mexico, may also be a godsend to other elements. The Knights Templar Cartel had been ruling their territory like a feudal fief. They extract extortion on every sale and confiscate farmer’s whole crops for a price of their choosing. They may be just too abusive for some elements of the bloodthirsty ruling class, so the armed workers may have elements of another cartel that may not be as medievally brutal in their exploitation of the working class. Either way, the vast majority of the vigilantes appear to be workers who were deported from the US and are refusing to passively accept the burden of brutality that the workers in Michoacán have stoically accepted up until now.  This illustrates a consequence of the US deporting so many workers into Mexico and destabilizing the extortion rackets that the ruling classes of The US and Mexico have been enriching themselves on.

It is inspiring to see armed and masked workers not fighting for some rotten religious ideology, but actually fighting against elements of the state apparatus in order to improve the conditions of workers in this life. This struggle will not end the tyranny of the cartels, since too many capitalists are enriching themselves from our class’ addictions, because it lacks a Communist center, politic, and, most importantly, Party to organize it and defend the working class’ gains. That Communist Party is PLP and it needs to built in the furnace of the Michoacán uprising.
