Protest Imperialist War in Syria on August 31

“Same Enemy, Same fight; Workers of the world, unite!”

This chant illustrates why the Progressive Labor Party is bringing our message of the need for Communist Revolution to the working class in Brooklyn.  The PLP will be rallying against the US protecting its dying empire by murdering workers in Syria just like their police murdered Shantel Davis and other workers in this neighborhood.  The police protect the private property and enforce the laws that protect the bosses’ profits.

Fascism at home helps to build imperialism abroad.  The PLP stands against the bosses and their constant class war against us workers.  We want to resolve the class war so that the working class is victorious.  That message is going to resonate off of the buildings as we link the fact that the police are brutalizing and murdering the black working class in the US just like they are going to try to justify their bombing of the working class in Syria.

If you can organize a protest against the war in Syria, then you should do so.  If you can come to Church ave and Nostrand tomorrow at 1:00, then you should as well.  Spread the word.  We must fight against imperialist war!

update: Today is a day of action against war in Syria. If there is an event nearby, we need to bring the need for Communist Revolution as the only solution to imperialist war. Here’s the link to see if there are any events near you.

Obama Dreams of Armageddon

The rulers are banging their wardrums and the cacophony of lies from the warmongering Nobel peace prizewinning charlatan of civil rights, Obama, continues. The tried and true lies are getting repeated in the press of “Weapons of Mass Destruction”. This dejavu would be a complete farce if the lives at stake weren’t so tragic.

So while, Obama, the master of doublespeak and deportations who hasn’t done jack squat to stem the tide of racist police and vigilante killings like Trayvon Martin, Shantel Davis, Oscar Grant, and Ramarley Graham, makes a speech today about civil rights, he’s also getting ready to bomb and kill innocent workers.

The US is in a jam as the side they chose to win in the proxy war to oust Russia from the Middle East has now entered into their endgame in a rapid slippery slope to losing. Russia has already defeated the US once this century during the Georgian war where Russia trounced the US’ puppet’s forces; the US is desperate not to lose to Russia yet again. The US had their cronies in Saudi Arabia try to bribe Russia to abandon Assad, but their strategic military base and control of present and future pipelines are too valuable. It is doubtful that Russia will allow a UN mandate to pass that the US could use to follow the Libyan blueprint for mass destruction and regime change.

Illustrating the massive racism of the US ruling class, they are appearing to celebrate the legacy of Dr. MLK, yet they are ramping up for war and to kill Middle Eastern workers. Imperialism is the name of their game, and deception of the US working class is how they play it.

Another complication for the US is the fact that Russia has a sizable amount of forces in the area. Russia experimented with several weapons against US forces when they first entered into Iraq, including a missile responsible for the first M-1 battle tank death and possibly hand held satellite jamming technology. Iran allegedly hacked a drone and landed it. It is possible that Syria may have the ability to counter or intercept an attack by the US. Even if they don’t stop it entirely, should the attack on Syria cause US casualties, it may erode whatever confidence the working class has left in Obama while weakening their already frigid support for the war. This would potentially ensnare the US into a ground war in the Middle East while they’re desperate to engage China in Asia. As noted many times in Challenge, the recent drawdowns in Afghanistan and the exit from Iraq were not acts of peace, but a repositioning of forces to check Chinese imperialism in Asia and Africa.

On the other hand, Syria and Russia may allow a token surgical strike that takes out some weapons, ammunition, and possibly aircraft. This would allow the US to save face and for Syria’s forces to finish mopping up the rebels and thousands of transnational Al Qaeda Jihadists.

The worst-case scenario is that this conflict can quickly escalate to the Armageddon of World War 3. The US parallels the dying empires of The UK and France as they try to clutch on to their neo colonial empire. Should things escalate, millions and millions of workers will join the over hundred thousand that have already died in the proxy war. Yet, the capitalists do not care how much of our blood they have to shed to preserve their empire and their profits. Imperialist war was the gestation of the first Communist revolution. The Progressive Labor Party will do all we can to ensure that Communist revolution happens in whatever scenario, Armageddon or otherwise, that occurs in Syria.

A Statement on the Supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood Recently Killed in Egypt

The politics of the class struggle must be primary in any analysis of the recent attack by the state on the supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood. Politics are always primary. A dialectical analysis of the situation illustrates a contradiction between two ideologies that both support Capitalism’s ability to control the state and for different particular imperialists and regional powers to hold sway over whatever group of bosses emerges as the dominant group. Though it is a tragedy that hundreds of workers have been killed over the past two days, the real tragedy continues to be the fact that the working class is still being mislead into supporting one or another group of bosses’ ideology.

The Muslim Brotherhood and their supporters have begun to shoot back and are coopting the language of the left as they try to paint their religious fundamentalism with a progressive veneer. They have regional allies with Turkey and Qatar, both hegemons that are arming and supporting one rebel faction in the imperialist proxy war in Syria. No religious ideology will ever emancipate the working class from exploitation, not Islam or Catholic based liberation theology. The politics that one particular mass is supporting and being killed for will only subjugate them further and empower regional players like Turkey.

This massacre further illustrates the hypocrisy of the US. The US is in a win win situation. If the state completely fails and chaos reigns, then they don’t have to go through the hassle of bombing it into oblivion and then shrugging their shoulders as they say they have to carry on with the rebuilding and fight terrorism as their actions with their humanitarian imperialism has illustrated. If the state does not fail and the army maintains power, then they have an ally that will function as counter weight to the Saudi’s rival, Qatar, and a loyal and submissive client state.  Either way that his resolves, we will probably see US troops stationed in Egypt – either under the auspices of the UN, some ad hoc alliance, or outright as part of the over 1.3 Billion dollars in military aid they currently receive.

The Progressive Labor Party does grieve for the innocent workers who have been killed over the past few days by the state, but we do not support the political aim of those workers nor do we support their ideology.  We are further grieved by the lack of a mass Communist Party capable of turning the tables on capitalism and beginning a Communist revolution for the true liberation of the working class by setting up a wageless egalitarian society.  The friends and allies of PLP in that part of the world as well as anybody interested in creating a lasting change need to intensify the struggle for Communist revolution so that we can bring this dark night where hundreds of workers are slaughtered for false consciousness to a close.

Religion Helps to Lower Worker’s Intelligence

A recent study has cast light on the negative effect that religion has on intelligence.  Communists have always pointed out the brain-deadening role of the ideology of religion, while also pointing out its contradictory role as a “hope in a hopeless world… the opiate of the masses” as said by Karl Marx.  A study that looks at almost a century of data illustrates the correlation of religious ideology to intelligence.  The capitalist class is desperate to maintain their state power over the proletariat, the dispossessed working class.  Any time that the capitalists can limit the proletariat’s intellectual development and preserve their state power, they will do so.  Religious Ideology is a weapon that the capitalists use to enslave the working class.

Ideology is the primary weapon that the Capitalist ruling class uses to maintain their hold on the state.  The state is the concentration of force and power that is organized in order to maintain control over the means of production.  The primary element within the means of production is the producer themselves who have their labor power stolen through the process of the wage system where the laborer labors and is given a wage that is a fraction of the value that the laborer produced.  This process of alienation is part of the fundamental flaw of capitalism that the laborer is never able to buy back the full value of their own labor, thus causing the declining rate of profit and the need for the capitalist to keep cutting labor and wages to increase profit in the short run, while shrinking the market that realizes the value the capitalist invested in the product that the laborer produced.

Without the role of ideology, the capitalist would not be able to so easily convince workers to sacrifice themselves against their own needs. Communism is the anti-ideology.  The more that Dialectical Materialism is developed, the less will ideology exist.  Ideology is also called “false consciousness” because it keeps the working class from seeing the true material basis of our society.  Matter is primary and it is the basis of our existence, yet the ruling class manufactures a whole smorgasbord of ideas that the working class can choose from or have directly imposed on them in order to keep them from seeing the everyday prison, the state apparatus, that we workers are imprisoned in.

Communists need to use the most scientific philosophical method possible in order to understand what exists apart from what we believe exists.  We need to look past the every day lens that capitalism teaches us to view the world through.  The ideological lens of capitalism can only be smashed as we develop our material understanding of the world around us.

Recent research has even begun to prove that religious ideology actually inhibits the development of intelligence.  Religion has been a major weapon in the hands of the ruling class as it both divides and controls billions of workers and keeps them subservient and hoping for reward in the next life from the big boss in the sky.  Whether that boss is named Allah, Jehovah, or Krishna, the theme of religion is to make sure that the capitalist order is not threatened, the workers keep producing, and the workers deny themselves what they fundamentally need in exchange for a hyper-alienating fundamentalism.

Science is not a “belief system”.  Science is a level of understanding of the world around us.  Dialectical Materialism is the philosophy of science.  As we understand what exists in the world, we will no longer need to rely upon what we believe that we know, but we will rely upon our understanding of what is necessary in order for us to meet all of our needs by working together.  The anti-ideology of Communism is the proverbial Red Pill that will shatter the bosses’ ideology once and for all.
